I have never seen 'scarface' but know that it is a vulgar, demeaning piece of material. I too am sick of people glorifying thuggery, from anybody, while the uplifters are left behind. I am going to ask the next person I see wearing images that glorify the thug/criminal life why they are wearing it. Do they know/understand what they are saying about themselves?

Our youth lack knowledge of self and kind; this thug mentality needs to be refocused.

We of the United Nuwaubian Nation, The Nation of Islam, New Black Panter Party, and The Nation of Gods & Earths (aka 5% Nation), Zulu Nation, and various Moorish associations, to name a few, have been informing our people, your people, and the world that we are slaves to our own "negroe" mentality that has been made so sublime by methods such as the William Lynch doctrine.

We are the cast of The Matrix, while the unconscious go about life connected to the Matrix... Watch the movie, and picture those with reality being the cast, and the rest of our people being those hooked up unknowingly to the Matrix..

When we attempt to WAKE up the people, some say "No.. we like the mentality we were reared in; we like being niggas; F the knowledge you talking!!" From then on, they are our people's worst enemy.. the house nigga..

Well, we of the field are tired, and we need to no longer put up with all the racist, and subliminal (and now also obvious) psychological warefare being prepetuated on our people!

Look at what they do to our leaders of change! Dr. Malachi Z. York...( www.HesInnocent.com) Imprisoned on a government conspiracy.. Noble Drew Ali.. Malcolm X.. and MANY other political prisoners wrongfully incarcerated.

Anytime change comes in the form of a black movement, the "co-intel" movement uses not only unlimited resources, but uses our own youth/people against us.

Wake up people. Jesus, Allah, Buddah, etc aren't going to help, lest we help our damn selves.

This is the perpetuation of that "thug mentality" that the caller talked about on the Citizen Speaks radio show when you were discussing Tupac. The fact that so many black men idolize gangsters - real, fictional and studio gangstas - is a serious problem in our community.

Though the underground economy has become a lucrative avenue for many poor people in America, it has been a deadend for many more. It is perpetuated in our music, by our television shows and by the fact that those are the role models many of our boys see in real life.

How do we change this? These images are everywhere.

Although all of your comments are true Nadir, it's still a travesty. Classic it may be but false is the "dream" perpetuated
"Too bad" that all those people you named like Jesse James and George Bush will learn or have learned that 'pride comes before the fall.'

Come on, Journie! Scarface is a classic! Violent, yes, but Tony Montana is the classic American anti-hero.

American culture deifies the violent outlaw. Look at Jesse James or Al Capone or George Bush. Gangsters are heroes in American lore.

Paul Rusesabagina saved the lives of many people, but that's not sexy. And to young black males in America, Africa is not sexy.

When you live a life where "Do yo chain hang low" is the question that determines your worth and value as a person, what do you expect?

Paul Rusesabagina was just a poor moe trying to do his job. A normal dude. Tony Montana was a baller. Larger than life. Drugs, money, women, guns... He lived the American dream!
