Rehab: The New Diversity Training

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

isaiah.jpgOkay, this is about ridiculous.

After Mel Gibson’s anti-Jewish tirade, he went to rehab for alcohol problems. Michael Richards couldn’t explain his niggardly attack on a couple of hecklers, and though he insists he doesn’t have a drug or alcohol problem, he checked himself into rehab.

Now Isaiah Washington uses the word “faggot” to describe his Grey’s Anatomy castmate, T.R. Knight, and after first denying he said it, Washington later admitted his transgression.

“I can neither defend nor explain my behavior,” he wrote in the public apology he issued. “I can also no longer deny to myself that there are issues I obviously need to examine within my own soul, and I’ve asked for help.”

So Isaiah Washington checked himself into rehab for psychological treatment. (more…)

ESPN is Racist I

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Two weeks ago the San Diego Chargers took the field against the New England Patroits in one of the best playoff games this post season. The Chargers had the best record in the NFL this season without the help of their leading tackler and defensive captain, Steve Foley.

Foley was out for the season recovering from injuries after being shot by an off-duty police officer. ESPN has failed to provide the facts in this story, and most of the sports media have ignored developments in the case. Foley’s story is a blatant example of how police officers target athletes, rappers and Black men in general.

Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, Steve went out with his girlfriend, Lisa Maree Gaut and after a night on the town, a 23 year-old off-duty rookie cop named Aaron Mansker felt that Steve appeared to be driving under the influence. (more…)

ESPN is Racist II

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Three days ago with the country in the wraps of war, and the sports world caught in the grips of the games that will decide our nation’s Superbowl contenders, ESPN couldn’t produce enough coverage of Falcons Quarterback Michael Vick and his marijuana charges.

Almost every commentator aired out their heartfelt convictions against Vick, accusing him of being an unfit leader and a classless guy. The Falcons General Manager actually held a press conference expressing his disgust toward Vick. Today Vick was found innocent, with no weed in his system or in the mysterious water bottle he held, and it’s a blurb scrolled across the bottom of ESPN.

Hmmmmmmmm. Accused is a headline. Not guilty is a short mention.

Nat Abraham’s Rebellion

Abraham Freep Photo

Nathaniel Abraham, the nation’s youngest convicted murderer, was released a day before his 21st birthday. At 11 years-old he was tried as an adult and found guilty of second-degree murder. The judge sentenced him as a juvenile, however, and as a result, Abraham has a new lease on life as an adult.

From the moment he stepped outside the court room for hopefully the last time, the media has been buzzing about Nathaniel. Are they concerned about how he will make the transition to life on the outside after spending his formative years in prison? Do they wonder what type of education he received in jail and how it will help him become a productive member of society?

No. Everyone is talking about his suit. (more…)

‘Roving Bugs’: Your Cellphone May Be Spying On You

Monday, December 4th, 2006

cell_phone- Bug!.jpgDid you know that any cellphone microphone can be turned into a bug? Did you know that it can be used to listen to conversations nearby even if the phone is turned off?

The technique is called a “roving bug,” and in the first admitted case of its use by the FBI, the roving bug was approved by the U.S. Department of Justice to tap members of a New York organized crime family who had successfully thwarted conventional surveillance techniques such as tailing or physical wiretapping.

CNet News reports:

The U.S. Commerce Department’s security office warns that “a cellular telephone can be turned into a microphone and transmitter for the purpose of listening to conversations in the vicinity of the phone.” An article in the Financial Times last year said mobile providers can “remotely install a piece of software on to any handset, without the owner’s knowledge, which will activate the microphone even when its owner is not making a call.” (more…)

O.J. Simpson WILL NOT ’snub his finger to the system’

Monday, November 20th, 2006

oj.jpgDespite the publishing mania for anything tell-all or confessional…it seems O.J.’s confession is a bit too much.

News Corporation just sacked O.J. Simpson. The parent company for Fox News and HarperCollins pulled the plug on Simpson’s TV interview AND book release “If I Did It.”

His publisher Judith Regan said the book described how he would have committed the 1994 slayings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman, “if he were the one responsible.”

America has been outraged ever since the announcement.

Ronald Goldman’s sister, Kim Goldman, told CNN: “He’s snubbing his finger to the system, to the community again. He’s telling us one more time, ‘I’m gonna continue to get away with killing your family members and I’m not gonna honor the judgment and look at me, ha, ha, ha.”‘

FEAR FACTORY on 10/11: Do We Feel Any Safer?

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

10-11crash.ap.jpgAdmit it… Everyone in America had the same thought…

When we heard the news that a plane hit a building in New York City, we were all waiting for the second plane or the explosion, or something else to happen because we were afraid that Manhattan was under attack again.

CNN covered the incident as if this was a new terror strike because frankly none of us knew that it wasn’t. Anderson Cooper reported from the scene and Wolf Blitzer stood in front of the blue screen speaking in that ominous tone of voice.

The fifth anniversary of 911 received a lot of fanfare, but the fifth anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan came and went a couple of weeks ago with barely a whisper. George Bush has made the world hate the United States even more than we were hated before September 2001, and the government and media FEAR FACTORY has US citizens on pins and needles.

Two Questions: From the security gauntlet at airports to our wars in the Middle East, from North Korean nuclear tests to our worries over a small plane crash on 10/11 -

Is America safer than it was five years ago?

Do you feel safer?

The Reason Americans Are So Stupid

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

Truthout.org reports that Newsweek is selling hard news in its International issue and entertainment in the US:

Editor’s Note: Newsweek has scrubbed the cover of its United States edition for October 2, 2006. The cover of its international editions, aimed at Europe and other world regions, has maintained the original title of the story, “Losing Afghanistan.” The new cover for the United States edition features photographer Annie Leibovitz and is titled “My Life in Pictures.” We offer the European edition cover and story here.

From Michelle Pilecki on Huffington Post:

So the powers-that-be at Newsweek figure that they can attract readers in Europe, Asia and Latin America with a dramatic cover depicting an Islamist armed with an evil-looking rocket-propelled grenade launcher that seems to be aimed right at the reader, who — it is to be assumed — would be thus “grabbed” by the prospect of a hard-hitting news story.

American readers, on the other hand, are assumed to prefer the soft pap of Newsweek Entertainment. “The audience is stupid” is the prevailing sentiment among the people at the top of the MSM, as Harry Shearer pointed out last week: “Whether or not they actually started out stupid, your programming [or editorial] decisions may help make them stupid.” It’s a self-fulfilling belief.

CNN will trip you out on 9/11

Friday, September 8th, 2006

Monday is the fifth anniversary of you-know-what, and to celebrate, CNN is airing it’s original footage from 09.11.01 ALL DAY LONG.

The American Way: CBS race baits to ‘Survive’

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

The CBS reality show ‘Survivor’ is changing its format this fall. In the American tradition, CBS turns to race baiting to boost ratings. The teams, also known as tribes, will divide along racial lines. There will be a Black team, white team, Latino team, etc.

Hmm, who does Tiger Woods cheer for? And for that matter, what team is he on?

The show’s producer, Mark Burnett, says the following about the new format:

“In America today,” Mr. Burnett said, “I really don’t believe there are many people who hate each other because of their race. But even though people may work together, they do tend in their private lives to divide along social and ethnic lines.”

Burnett also says this isn’t a strategy to boost sagging ratings but an “interesting social experiment.”

‘Black women on leashes’ aka ‘MTV gets in on da’ pimp game’

Saturday, August 19th, 2006

AP Photo

Hey folks, all those years of degrading Black women has finally caught up with us–and MTV is in on the game. Yea boy!!!

Hip hop artists, mostly Black men, have sanctioned this stuff for years in the name of ‘getting mine, son.’ Booty shaking, humping and groveling Black women have gone mainstream and corporate America has joined in on the fun.

MTV recently aired a cartoon entitled ‘Where my dogs at?’ It depicted Black women on all fours wearing leashes and crapping on the floor.

How you like me now?

Wednesday, August 16th, 2006

OUTRAGEOUS! The nation’s Last Chocolate City ranks near the top of yet another list of negative statistics. Detroit came in third among Men’s Health Magazine’s 100 Angriest Cities ranking.

And just how did the muscleheads at Men’s Health come up with this VEXING viewpoint? Their surprisingly unscientific methods will send you into a RAGE!!! (more…)

Hollywood, could Angela Basset ever play Jackie O. in a biopic?

Monday, July 24th, 2006

We are all for blind casting…but damn! Brad Pitt’s production company has selected Angelina Jolie to star in the Mariane Pearl story. Pearl, a French-born Black woman, was married to journalist Daniel Pearl who was kidnapped and beheaded by Pakistani militants in 1999. Pearl, who was pregnant at the time of the murder, wrote about her experience. Jolie will play Pearl.

As if there is a glut of roles for Black actresses…
